At least that’s what Tom Knotts says. “You don’t waste it, you won’t loose it.” Says Tom. “That’s what my pa taught me so that’s how I live.” Tom has been cutting on this tree every year for twelve years. How you ask? He puts it back. Early every fall Tom heads out to his back yard in upper Nebraska, lassos his tree with a rope. Ties the rope to a wench mounted in his back yard and cranks it down. After cleaning all the leaves back that are just going to fall off anyway. He cuts enough fire wood for the winter, then puts it back. Thanks to people like Tom Knotts of Nebraska, the world is becoming a better place to live.

Running Before The Sun

I run in the dark because it’s quiet.

Just before the sun everything is silent.

The day has yet begun, no worries, no strife.

I run to forget about life.

The earth has had time to cool.

The water and wind have calmed.

All of the world is silent,

that is why I run, just before dawn.
